Welcome to EvO:R Entertainment |
The EvO:R-Pedia Musicians Tips Section
Welcome to the EvO:R Tips Section. We call this section EvO:R-Pedia because it is like a complete
reference library for Indie musicians...Just about every tip has been used so you won't find false
promises and a series of books to buy after reading each tip. This section was put here by musicians
so that people that followed can take this knowledge and use it's power.
Creating a online buzz
with Mark Nance
WEEN, a band that had a cult following in the early 90's
(mostly thanks to Beavis & Butt-head showing that damn
"...Daisies" video), they never really "hit" it big
time, yet on-line...
EVERYONE I know (and that's a lot of people) that has
a computer and uses it to get music has at LEAST 1
WEEN Mp3. This is due, in large part, to the band's
open trading policy. They encourage their on-line fans
to trade everything they have of them... studio
tracks, live stuff... all of it. And they let you tape
at their shows... someone once called them the "phish
of internet geeks" or something like that.
The last show I went to was posted on-line three
different places BY THE TIME I MADE THE THREE HOUR
DRIVE HOME...
Last year they released an online album just for their
fans and they only had it up for download for 24
hours... a year later you're "lame" if you don't have
it because it is on EVERY good FTP site that caters to
ween... and they didn't announce it's release date or
anything... one day it was there, the next day it
wasn't. Now everyone has it.
It helps when the band updates their own website
instead of the record company... every month or so
they put up a new song or concert that only they
have... FREE to download from their site, and by the
end of the month, all the FTP's have it.
Rolling Stone magazine last year awarded
Ween Radio
the third place award in best internet music site...
one ahead of the site for the technology that runs
weenradio, and behind only Napster and one other huge
one (SonicNet I think). And only because the online
fans put them there!
