    Indie Music & Promotion
    By Michael Bandes

Indie Music is the heart and soul of the music scene. Unfortunately, many bands fall short of promoting their music to the fullest extent possible. One of the problems is that being unsigned or working for independent labels, they just don't have the budget for a full campaign.

While most people think indie music as being rock, there are all sorts of indie bands. These range from rap, hip hop, jazz, classical, and hybrids of each other.

With the new update from Harmonix stating that the Rock Band game will open its doors to bands around the world, this is a great way to promote and sell music. How does it work? The easiest and less stressful way would be to hire a professional Rock Band Network Author that will convert an individual track for inclusion on the game. Now this would put your music in front of millions of Rock fans. Who wouldn't love that? If I were trying to reach a new market and make a name for myself, entering the Rock Band Network would allow me to sell and promote at the same time.

You are probably wondering how much a band can make with promoting their music on Rock Band. That's a good question and depends on how much you charge for each song. On Xbox 360 you can sell a track for $.99, $1.99, or $2.99.

What makes a good song in Rock Band? Well obviously rock bands are extremely popular. Indie rock works great in the game. Other music is gaining popularity, and we will see a lot of new music in the upcoming months.

In case you were wondering, how else can an artist promote? Some traditional methods rely on radio, festivals, and word of mouth. Artists are also venturing into MySpace, Facebook, and other web platforms.

Once the artist gains a following, a major music label may approach them with a record deal. At this point you will need to find an entertainment lawyer to review all the documents.

Good luck with your future endeavor.

A Message from the founder of EvO:R
The Independent Music world has become so fragmented that anyone entering into this arena will be lost without having a chance of survival. What every independent musicians needs is information, understanding and a path that leads to success. Sure, you can buy a few books from authors that never played a note or loaded a single amp into a moving van. Pipe dreams are all over the Internet.

At EvO:R we pride ourselves with sections dedicated to Independent Music News called (The EvO:R Street Journal), Musicians Success Stories and Tips called (EvO:R-pedia) and a Musicians Testimonial Section called (The Goods) dedicated to Internet based companies that deliver on their promises.

All this news and information and we don't charge a single penny. We also respect your online privacy by refusing to track your browsing habits while on our website. We simply want to deliver the BEST news, information and success stories for the Independent Musician.

Thank-you for visiting EvO:R and tell the world that we are out here..
