Alternative rockers Echo Arcadia just released their latest CD entitled “Beauty in the Average Life” in 2013. This band hails from Scotland of all places. They bring a compelling spin on life, and how well music reflects life itself. With this kind of approach to modern day alt-rock we’ve seen similar bands like The Horrors, Miles Kane and Manic Street Preachers achieve huge scale success. On “Beauty in the Average Life” you’ll hear some familiar sonic punk concoctions with a hint of ambient rock. Personally it’s my favorite style of music to listen to. You know music like R.E.M and more recent Muse and The Killers. Echo Arcadia combines all of the above with an above average vocal style and a solid rock sound. This highly second anticipated CD features all original music with keyboards, piano, accompanied by musical tidbits of guitar, bass, drums, and an amazing vocal front Leigh Moyes. Echo Arcadia is: Rhythm Guitar), Vonny Moyes (Lead Guitar / Vocals), Euan Mushet  (Bass), Dan Ciesielski (Drums), Kev Tierney (Guitar / Vocals /Trumpet),  Pete Nicholson (Keys / Vocals) and Andrew Gray (Violin / Vocals). All arrangements offer much in the way of captivating musical performances and a diverse spectrum of sound that runs full circle.

Let me start by saying “Beauty in the Average Life” is the perfect title for a spaced out CD like this – but beware it has a slightly tragic side. “Beauty in the Average Life” tells the truth and makes a good first impression with “Sparks”, Apple Moon” and “Love Song”. Besides modern day alt-rock one can also appreciate the hint of UK punk, soul and singer/songwriter. The underlying theme here is no-doubt Rock based –but has a deep seeded Singer/Songwriter quality to it like Radiohead (Thom Yorke).
    In the Studio:
The ultra-clean quality is the perfect foundation for some of this songwriting. In this aspect they also reminded me of Supergrass, Beck and Primal Scream. Some songs push hard while a few touch on heartfelt balladry. A few even provide intoxicating grooves and vocals that reminded me of Maynad Keenan. The beginning, middle and end of the album incorporates all of the aforementioned styles into a whirlwind of musical delight that slowly fades out as humbly as it begins on the final track Into “Another Day”. The song that had the biggest impact upon me as a listener was “Satellite.”
    Conclussion
BOTTOM LINE” Echo Arcadia’s latest release “Beauty in the Average Life” makes a lasting impression upon the listener. Together these Scots are sure to make an impact here in the states. They sound comfortable together not holding anything back and their eccentrically good songwriting is boldly honest. This latest effort by Echo Arcadia creates an inviting musical setting that highlights all the good about eccentric trippy alt-rock and up close and personal singer/songwrite r music. All songs offer a wide array of musical depth and structure – offering the best UK and US rock n’ roll has to offe r - a great balance.
