Brooklyn singer-songwriter Cass Dillon has one of those voices thatís at once familiar but yet you canít quite put your finger on it. The closest I could place it would a cross between Jeson Mraz and Adam Duritz (Counting Crows) without the rock ní roll bombast. His latest single ďI Love YouĒ starts off with a carefree folk vibe, with lush vocal harmonies as the acoustic guitar flourishes. Slowly but surely you are gently introduced to Dillonís appealing baritone perfect for an Adult Contemporary Pop audience with itís earthy backdrop and touches of acoustic guitar and layered harmonies. The whispering background vocals and a reverb soaked snare drum/guitar both compliment each other well. Itís a very modern sounding song but donít worry, there are no Kanye West guest appearances.

The verses evolve into the chorus flawlessly and brings it right back into familiar territory as we journey through an exceptional song. Dillonís voice is spot on and on this song shines bright as it demonstrates his amazing voice control, and depth as a writer. As I listened to the song over and over again I noticed how fluid this arrangement really was. Maybe I didnít catch on to it at first but the song really flows nicely from one second to the next, While there are no jolting moments to catch your off guar and get you attention the song does manage to grab your attention extremely well with itís gentle, lighthearted style. Thereís some nice acoustic work here as the guitar, vocals and snare really mesh well together within the sonic space.

Some gentle timbre eases the song into almost a Jazzy-Folk territory. I Love You will work best when stripped down to just a guitar and vocals, the song could easily be converted to this unplugged setting without even trying. This could be a wedding song. I Love You by Cass Dillon rounds out an exceptional single delivered by a talented singer-songwriter who definitely has honed his craft. Cass Dillon one to watch among the folk and adult pop contemporary realm as 2013 and 2014 advance.
