Karl Von Kriesstarted musical career by playing flute in the third grade. In a
desperate attempt to increase his street-cred, the next decade saw him
add bass, keyboards, guitar, and other instruments to his repertoire. He
also built synthesizers. Von Kries started playing live in the
thriving Amherst Massachusetts music scene which spawned the Pixies, Dinosaur
Jr. and Sebadoh. Karl played in a host of long gone Valley bands like
Frog Nebula, Darwin, the Just Assassins, and more - developing a mutated
style that merged indie power pop, grunge, elctro-folk, and metal.
Combining powerful, crystal clear vocals, haunting melodies and arresting, earnest lyrics that will not soon be forgotten, Edmonton’s piano-pop songstress Heather Hutchison has already embarked on an impressive musical journey, one which is far from coming to a close. She has accomplished a great deal for an artist with such a fresh career, since being chosen from hundreds of acts as a finalist in Alberta’s Talent Explosion in 2004 where she made the acquaintance of her now producer Brock Skywalker (formerly of the award-winning Edmonton band Captain Tractor). She has already released two CDs of original material, "Hello" (2005) and "Charades" (2007), books frequent shows throughout Alberta and seeks to tour extensively in the coming years. This young artist is poised and ready to build on her already impressive list of accomplishments.
Unique mix of Jazz, Pop & Rock music by an edgy singer
who isn't afraid to say what she thinks.
EVERYBODY LOVES IRENE
With spare-backing tracks and emotional, wrenching
vocal, Everybody Loves Irene (ELI) play music for times when ecstasy wears
off and the tingle becomes a chill. It's a dance noir for those too
world-weary to move. If you're making out at home or pining home alone,
Everybody Loves Irene is the most appropriate one to leisure.
My name is Jan ("yahn") Christiansen. I'm writing to you on behalf of The Attic Ends,
a Brooklyn-based Indie Pop band. Like a moodier, decidedly east coast version of early
No Doubt, The Attic Ends have finally arrived at their signature sound: A spine-tingling
mix of classic rock's primal recklessness and the intricacy of brainy indie-pop.
The music evokes an expansive darkness, richly layered with appealing melodies and power pop vocals.
The band is playing a huge showcase at New York City's Mercury Lounge on March 17th and
is gearing up for a European tour this summer. If you're in the NYC area on that date,
we'd be happy to put aside tickets for you and yours. The debut CD, Home was release on
iTunes in January and has been making waves. I am attaching the electronic press kit
for the band, complete with music, bio, etc. Four of the more popular singles are under
the "audio" tab. I am happy to send you a zip file with the entire album if you'd like
to give it a listen. The band is currently unsigned and waiting for the right "fit"
with a label and distribution deals.
Scorpio 67 is Johnny Stevenson, a melodic one-man genre-hopping pop band!!! Born and raised In England, Johnny saw a Beatles movies at the age of 6, and decided right there and then music was the way to go.............He hasn't looked back since that day, where he began to write and sing his own songs on old portable tape recorders!!! The first band experience was playing the bass in a school reggae band, which forever broadened his expanding teenage palate of musical styles. Many bands came and went after leaving school, some more successful than others!!!!.
After his last band in England failed to get the record deal they were promised, a disillusioned Johnny moved to the United States. After some minor successes as lead vocalist in the Milwaukee band Rhinocerotic, (who even scored an appearance on the Jenny Jones show) Johnny embarked on a solo project, named SCORPIO 67. This was closely followed by a move to beautiful new surroundings in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he wrote and recorded his first songs as Scorpio67. After which he found the pull of Milwaukee calling him back, where he continues to write and record music there are no boundaries, the future is wide open
At the American Indian Film Festival award show tonight, in the filled-to-capacity, 1,000-seat Palace of Fine Arts Theater in San Francisco, all eyes and ears are focused on singer Jamie Coon. The audience is captivated by her voice—which is both soulful and angelic—and her original soul-pop tunes. Most in the crowd have that rare feeling that they are listening to a singular voice—and witnessing a true performer. A gifted singer and completely natural on stage, Jamie is connected with the audience, ad-libbing between tunes and interacting with the crowd—which spurs her to dig in, take risks, and reach new musical heights. Not surprisingly, Jamie Coon is regarded by many as one of the freshest-sounding singers to come along in awhile, and is continually reaching larger audiences via films, TV and national awards.
LATENT ANXIETY, a unique, innovative and award-winning music project from Los Angeles, is the brainchild of Ilja. A songwriter, producer and talented musician, Ilja's thought provoking lyrics sung in different voices, tight guitar riffs and experimental approach are his musical purport into the developments of modern society and the depths of human emotion. He brilliantly creates a refreshing blend of diverse dark wave, industrial and gothic themes with tasteful infusions of rock, pop and dance music featuring mind boggling vocals, grinding intelligent guitars and melodic synths in a multidimensional sound that he calls Electronic Alternative Rock (EAR). Latent Anxiety does not get caught up in one particular musical style or genre, but truly defines its own boundaries while presenting substantial crossover ability and something for every listener.

“Rachel Green” has over the past few years taken many shapes and become something of a metaphor for believing in yourself and your dreams. It was not until I went to India in 2005 that we tailored an Indian costume for her. During the stay I also got the chance to sing on the title track for the Bollywood film ISRAA.
Melodies and lyrics have been important to me ever since childhood. I didn’t grow up in a musical family and therefore music was often hard to find. But one day I came across Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” and fell in love instantly. It would take years before I knew how amazing the lyrics were too. Therefore, making a cover of this song was inevitable.
PhattSideDown is a band from Southern Ohio with a
few surprises. They are a trio with much to offer, and have been
described once before as "Beatles meets KISS", but that is just one opinion. To
fully understand their sound is to simply listen to it and rock out, no
explanations needed. Rock, beer, tit-ties and gravy... What else does
Take one part Bette Midler's divine chutzpah, one part Fiona Apple's juice, add a spritz of Winehouse and top with Tori Amos' flaming hair. Blend in a hot band and stir with a comedy shtick. Mmm, tasty!
Eva Moon & the Lunatics serves up a quirky, high-energy cocktail of pop, jazz, funk and Latin originals. Let us bail you out with a recession-proof show that will make you forget your troubles for a few hours. The music is hot and the lyrics are hotter. Nigerian scammers, sexy bankers, Brazilian waxing, mail order vibrators, barista lust. Nothing is off limits. So, get a sitter for the kids and uncork something shaken and stirred.
I'd like to tell you about the hot, new pop artist,
Joey Mars. Joey's teen idol image and mainstream sound appeal to the
large audience of music goers. I encourage you to give Joey a try and go
to his free song page by clicking the url below. I recommend listening
to all of his songs, but if you just listen to one, I suggest "There's
Only You". Joey's hit love song, "There's Only You" is quickly rising
on the top 200 pop songs chart at SoundClick. Please give him a try!
