Last Rights Vinyl LP Record
by Skinny Puppy
Our Price: $20.29 LP
Usually ships in 1-2 days
The Canadian industrial noise band outdoes itself on this collection of thunderous beats overlaid with nightmarish snatches
of conversation, dramatically gloomy synthesizers, and disorienting blasts of noise. Either one of the band's most successful
efforts or a recipe for migraine-inducing aural torture, it represented the logical culmination of several years of musical
experimentation. However, it was unfortunately the last album Skinny Puppy released before the death of one of its most important
members, Dwayne Goettel, from a heroin overdose in 1995. Goettel's remarkable gift for electronic manipulation is apparent on
tracks like the album's opening salvo "Love in Vein" and the shattering "Download," which both make the epic yet doom-laden
"Killing Game" seem like easy listening, while "Inquisition" and "Mirror Saw," both displaying the band's arguably more
commercial side, are fine examples of industrial disco.Entertainment Weekly (5/22/92, p.76) - "..a dense barrage of found
sound, sinister synthesizers, electronically induced beats, and strangulated vocals...a nonstop stretch of horrific
soundscapes.." - Rating: B+
(July-Aug./92, p.123) - "..Ultimately, this album seems like dance music dressed up with some distortion and a
few guitar chords.."

Broken CD
by Nine Inch Nails
Our Price: $8.49 CD
Usually ships in 1-2 days
Having caught the public's attention with his catchy, chart- topping PRETTY HATE MACHINE, Trent Reznor was free to experiment
with music less accessible to the mainstream. While his more fickle fans were disappointed with BROKEN, the faithful heard in
it Reznor's true genius. Dark and edgy, BROKEN cuts the silence like a dirty knife--no singalong anthems here. Only hard-hitting
rhythms and no-holds-barred metal riffs flavor this sophomore effort.
In BROKEN one can hear the artist maturing and simplifying his craft; Reznor succeeds here without relying on the trappings of
pop formulas. The product of a burst of creative energy, BROKEN spawned a companion release of remixes, titled FIXED. From the
tight, rapid-fire succession of chords that begins "Pinion" to the beautiful and dreamy jingling guitar of "Help Me I Am in
Hell," BROKEN proved that Reznor was to remain a force in the alternative music scene.
Spin (12/92, p.94) - Highly Recommended - "...If The Who had decided to go industrial, BROKEN is probably what it would have sounded like,
based on the slamming energy that Nine Inch Nails exudes..."

Fragile CD
by Nine Inch Nails
Our Price: $20.35 CD
Usually ships in 1-2 days
THE FRAGILE was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. "Starfuckers, Inc." was nominated
for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Trent Reznor's brainchild, Nine Inch Nails, has had a lasting influence on the alternative rock scene ever since the band rocketed
to critical acclaim with PRETTY HATE MACHINE. 1999's THE FRAGILE is a double-CD that boasts 23 tracks of pure energy and creativity.
Reznor said of THE FRAGILE, "I wanted to try new things, fully utilizing the studio while putting more effort into melody and structure."
From song one, it's clear that he's accomplished just this. Tracks like "Into the Void" are replete with sounds and textures that no NIN
album to this point contained.
THE FRAGILE took more than two years to put together and includes songs bursting with melody and life. There are graceful and haunting
tracks like "La Mer" and "The Great Below" and songs of despair and hopelessness like "Somewhat Damaged" and "No You Don't." Other
highlights include "Starfuckers, Inc.," "Where Is Everybody," and "The Day the World Went Away."

Matrix Soundtrack CD
by Soundtrack
Our Price: $9.65 CD
Usually ships in 1-2 days
The futuristic sci-fi/action flick THE MATRIX features Keanu Reeves as the potential savior of the human race. Whatever
one's feelings about this questionable casting decision, the film's soundtrack is an arresting collection that combines
industrial with electronica-derived styles and a touch of good old hard rock. Ministry and Marilyn Manson represent the
industrial end of the spectrum, while Propellerheads, Prodigy and Rammstein contribute electronic-based, beat-driven tunes
that accentuate the film's future shock aspect. Rage Against the Machine closes things out with a characteristically
driving rocker, "Wake Up," providing a cataclysmic ending to a soundtrack full of end-of-the-century weltschmerz.
Marilyn Manson,Ministry,Prodig Rob Zombie,Deftones,Machine ++Entertainment Weekly (5/7/99, p.65) - "...six parts
extreme metal from the likes of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, throw in some electronic mayhem from Propellerheads
and Prodigy, add a pinch of Teutonic rage courtesy Rammstein, and voila' - you've got a potent musical Molotov
cocktail..." - Rating: B+
THE MATRIX was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album. "Bad Blood" was nominated for the 2000
Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.

With Teeth CD
by Nine Inch Nails
Our Price: $10.49 CD / $7.59 MP3
Usually ships in 1-2 days
Over the course of his musical career, Trent Reznor has managed to deliver a full-length studio album about every five years.
Although he's a bit late with 2005's WITH TEETH (following 1999's THE FRAGILE), listeners are rewarded with Nine Inch Nails'
most streamlined and straightforward record since PRETTY HATE MACHINE. Here Reznor cuts back on programming and synthesizers,
opting for heavy use of guitars, bass, and--surprisingly--piano and live drums.
The album's secret weapon is drummer
Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), whose thunderous percussive style gives certain songs--most notably the frenetic "You Know
What You Are?"--added weight and a welcome no-frills rock edge. Though the techno/industrial element of Reznor's music has
been played down, his lyrics are typically angst-ridden, with dramatic tales of isolation, deception, loss, and love gone wrong.
More than 15 years after his debut, Reznor is as tormented as ever, and Nine Inch Nails fans wouldn't have it any other way.
Rolling Stone (p.70) - 3.5 stars out of 5 - "[V]intage Nine Inch Nails: New Wave with a heart of darkness."

Splendor Solis CD
by Tea Party
Our Price: $11.99 CD
Usually ships in 1-2 days
Toronto, Canada's the Tea Party sound like Jim Morrison singing for Led Zeppelin in their most exotic Middle Eastern moments.
As evidenced on their 1993 debut album, Splendor Solis was a smash in Canada with sales of a million copies -- pretty impressive
when one remembers that due to that country's small population -- platinum status is awarded at 250,000 units.
First track "The
River" sets the tone with its esoteric lyrics, Eastern-influenced guitar licks, and tribal drumming. After a beautiful acoustic
guitar solo called "Winter Solstice," we arrive at the album's piece de resistance: "Save Me," which slowly builds, trance-like,
for over six minutes. Overall, this is a fine, if slightly pretentious album. Perhaps the band could improve upon their formula
with a follow-up. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
Melody Maker (7/2/94, p.35) - "...A ravaged, bluesy, shamanic holler that bleeds decadence and sex and suggests that it's
visited the ends of the earth and thrown up there..."

Rosenrot CD
by Rammstein
Our Price: $11.99 CD
Usually ships in 1-2 days
"Rosenrot" translates as "Red-Rose". The fifth album from the Berlin sextet of Till Lindemann (vocals),
Paul Landers (guitar), Christoph Schneider (drums), Richard Z. Kruspe (guitar), Flake Lorenz (keyboards)
and Oliver Riedel (bass) make the impossible possible. They bring together what does not belong together:
the Brothers Grimm and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Yes, it sounds absurd, but it's merely a stylistic device.
The title fitting for this Rammstein album. It's a word like a poem, brimming with meaning and import; a poem
that unites the beautiful with the ugly, the gentle with the cruel, and life with death.
When the Berlin Wall came tumbling down, and Communism along with it, little did the world know that the monolithic
regime-metal of Rammstein had been growing up behind it, soon to release itself upon the world and remind the free
what it's like to have to walk in line. Wagnerian in scope and mood (if not in sound), 2006's ROSENROT finds the East
German group offering up more of their uber-dramatic club/industrial chug that's as cold and massive as the hulking
battleship that graces its cover. Imagine the ghost of Austrian pop star Falco inhabiting a giant steel robot and
going on a city-destroying rampage; that's what's at stake here, and there are more than enough tracks providing
the sort of dancefloor totalitarianism that Goths and rivetheads crave. The big surprise on ROSENROT is the half
of the album dominated by ballads, quietly creeping along like blackened ivy up a castle wall.
The band's signature German-only lyrics are also subverted here with "Te Quiero P***!," adding Mexican horns
and bending their lockstep rhythmic assault to a Latin-centric cadence; it's like a soundtrack to a mechanical
bullfight, and helps the group diversify their battle plan.
