Eric Patrick Clapton, CBE (born 30 March 1945) is an English blues-rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer. Clapton has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Yardbirds, of Cream, and as a solo performer, being the only person ever to be inducted three times. Often viewed by critics and fans alike as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Clapton was ranked fourth in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and #53 on their list of the Immortals: 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Although Clapton has varied his musical style throughout his career, it has always remained grounded in the blues. Yet, in spite of this focus, he is credited as an innovator in a wide variety of genres. These include blues-rock (with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and the Yardbirds) and psychedelic rock (with Cream). Clapton's chart success was not limited to the blues, with chart-toppers in Delta Blues (Me and Mr. Johnson), pop ("Change the World") and reggae (Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff"). Two of his most successful recordings were the hit love song "Layla", which he played with the band Derek and the Dominos, and Robert Johnson's "Crossroads", which has been his staple song since his days with Cream.

      Blues CD
      by Eric Clapton
    Our Price: $17.19
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
Prior to Eric Clapton's pop- and MTV-driven mid-'80s work, he spent the '70s and early '80s playing languid, singer-songwriter soft rock evocative of J.J. Cale and Don Edwards. But Clapton always kept one foot in the blues of his youth. BLUES brings this material together in one place and throughout, Slowhand taps into an inner spirituality that does these blues standards well.

The first disc contains studio recordings that include tributes to many influences including Elmore James ("The Sky Is Crying") and Willie Dixon ("Meet Me [Down At the Bottom]"). Most impressive is a stripped-down version of Little Walter's "Mean Old World," in which Clapton and Duane Allman duet using National steel and slide guitars. The tempo picks up during an alternate version of Bo Diddley's "Before You Accuse Me" that becomes a rollicking shuffle and a cover of Muddy Water's "Blow Wind Blow" in which Clapton's guitar parries with Gary Brooker's piano. On disc two, "Live Blues," Slowhand's playing deliciously simmers on material by Robert Johnson and Otis Rush. He eventually cuts loose as he trades licks with his hero Freddie King on a joyous cover of Bobby "Blue" Bland's "Further on Up the Road."

    Contains 5 previously unreleased tracks.
Recorded between 1970 and 1980. Includes liner notes by John McDermott. Digitally remastered by Suha Gur (Universal Music Group Studios).

      461 Ocean Boulevard CD
      by Eric Clapton
    Our Price: $15.19
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
After playing the 1973 Rainbow Concerts that were arranged by good friend Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton returned to Florida's Criteria Recording Studio to cut 461 OCEAN BOULEVARD. Because of a stint of personal turmoil, Clapton had not played guitar for two years preceeding the Rainbow Concerts, but with the help of a core group of musicians including George Terry, former Derek & the Dominos bassist Carl Radle, Jamie Oldaker, and Yvonne Elliman, Slowhand put together an album that many consider to be his best.

Focusing more on his singing than his guitar pyrotechnics of the past, the new, improved Clapton used a laid-back, J.J. Cale-type vocal style to great effect on a mellow version of "Willie And The Hand Jive" and Elmore James's "I Can't Hold Out." Far from being a kinder, gentler guitar hero, Clapton also showed considerable spark on a slide-drenched "Motherless Children" and the driving "Mainline Florida," which closes out the album. Of course, his cover of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" was the musical statement that took him to the top of the charts and let the general public know he was back. 461 OCEAN BOULEVARD is still one of the highest points of Clapton's solo career.
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.

      Complete Clapton CD
      by Eric Clapton
    Our Price: $15.59
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
Released in conjunction with Eric Clapton's autobiography, COMPLETE CLAPTON provides the soundtrack to the original guitar hero's decades-spanning journey. Over the course of two discs, this collection tracks Clapton's progress from the ground-breaking psychedelic blues-rock of Cream and the short-lived supergroup Blind Faith, through his Duane Allman collaboration, Derek & the Dominos, and on to his prolific solo career.

Clapton is personally responsible for a huge chunk of the classic-rock canon, and it's all included here. The primal crunch of Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love," the bluesy riffarama that is Derek & the Dominos' evergreen "Layla," the country-tinged twangfest "Lay Down Sally"--you name it, COMPLETE CLAPTON has it. This set doesn't stint on later material, either, like Clapton's Robert Johnson tribute and a duet with J.J. Cale. With the possible exception of his very early work with John Mayall, there's nary a career highlight missed on this comprehensive anthology.

Live From Madison Square Garden CD
by Eric Clapton / Steve Winwood
    Our Price: $19.75
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
The set list includes material from the catalogs of Blind Faith, Traffic, Derek and the Dominos, and Clapton's solo oeuvre (including the J.J. Cale-penned classics "After Midnight" and "Cocaine"). Two Jimi Hendrix covers appropriately evoke the bygone `60s era, but the mode here is more laid-back and polished than fiery and psychedelic. That's not to say that Winwood and Clapton, who shine equally on these cuts, don't charm with their familiar skill and finesse. The result is 21 tracks-worth of classic rock pleasure.

When their hugely influential groups (Cream and Traffic, respectively) disbanded, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood made rock history when they joined forces in the short-lived Blind Faith in the late 1960s. Forty years later these legends collaborated again, selling out a trio of dates at Madison Square Garden, the results of which are captured on this dynamic double-disc set.

      Journeyman CD
      by Eric Clapton
    Our Price: $8.59
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
As the '80s drew to a close, Clapton's lifestyle included fraternizing with models and wearing designer suits to go with stylish haircuts. Amid all this jet-setting, Clapton released JOURNEYMAN, an album that found his songwriting involvement limited to cuts co-written with Foreigner's Mick Jones ("Bad Love") and Robert Cray ("Old Love"). Respected producer Russ Titelman twisted knobs as a number of famous guests contributed to the creative process. Old friend George Harrison contributed guitar, harmonies and a song ("Run So Far") while Clapton's band from AUGUST (Greg Phillinganes, Nathan East, Phil Collins) are also present.

Although the slick production of most of Clapton's '80s work is evident, his passion is far from lacking. "Running On Faith" finds Slowhand looking deep inside himself as a gospel choir chimes away in the background. On Ray Charles' "Hard Times" Clapton reminds listeners that heartache is around the corner. The sweet nothings whispered in "Lead Me On" are made that much sweeter by the harmonies of Cecil and Linda Womack. E.C. also manages to have a ball with a shuffling "Hound Dog" and a rollicking take on Bo Diddley's "Before You Accuse Me."
Recorded at The Town House, London, England and Power Station, Skyline Studios, New York, New York.
