      pretty world
      by Sam Baker
    Our Price: $15.00 CD / $15.00 MP3 Album Download
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
Sam Baker took the pretty dire circumstances he was given and turned it all into art. These songs are amazing slices of humanity, insight and transcendence. A beautiful album from a beautiful artist. Go see him live if you can - he will make you laugh and cry, and you will leave a better person for it.
This is outside my usual listening realm but I heard "Orphan" on the radio one night and was entranced. Thanks to Sam Baker for a beautifully crafted collection of songs, and thanks to CD Baby for putting it out there so we can find it!

Singer-Songwriter Heaven - The Songs Of Kevin Faherty
      by Various Artists
    Our Price: $12.97 CD / $9.99 MP3 Album Download
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
Surprise. It's done. Your wife Donna was in on it the whole way, very helpful. (I hope you can still trust her after this) Sonnie B helped a lot too, and Tom K offered some sage advice along the way. I thought about going outside the 'circle' for artists, but in the end, as you can see from the list, these generous souls are all good friends of yours. I would tell you that you have a lot of beers to buy, but you have always bought the beer, Please put a few more to put on your beer list - Paul Z, Nancy T, and David G. I consider these tracks to be the strongest collection of unrecorded songs on earth. It was a sin that they hadn't been heard outside a lucky Kerrville campfire or an insiders guitar pull in Nashville. Now all is forgiven. Enjoy, feel the love, you deserve it. With Great Affection,
20 incredible songs. Ellis Paul, Diana Jones, Buddy Mondlock and other singer-songwriters each sing one song in this surprise tribute to songwriter Kevin Faherty.

      Sunrise on Avenue C
      by James Maddock

The much anticipated follow up to Wood - Songs from Stamford Hill. Featuring contributions from: Leslie Mendelson, Aaron Comess, Drew Mortali, Eleanor Whitmore, Oli Rockberger and Clarke Gayton. Produced by Steve Greenwell. Ruins produced by Malcolm Burn and Steve Greenwell. All songs written by James Maddock.

      Alright Now
      by David Mallett
    Our Price: $15.00 CD / $9.99 MP3 Album Download
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
Alright Now is David Mallett's first recording of all-original songs in six years. The long hiatus is proving worth the wait. Alright Now is the culmination of 40 years of songwriting which captures keen observations about the soulfulness of everyday life.

The songs cover a wide range of topics and moods -- public and private, hopeful, fragile, nostalgic, bitter, loving. The album was recorded in Maine over 8 months and features Michael Burd (bass and guitar) and Susan Ramsey (violin and viola), along with Jim Doherty (drums), Robbie Coffin (guitars), Will Mallett (guitar and vocals), and Luke Mallett (vocals).
David Mallett's finest album, all original songs, cuts deep with emotionally honest lyrics and a hint of instrumental twang.

      What The Crow Brings
      by The Low Anthem
    Our Price: $14.97 CD / $10.00 MP3 Album Download
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
The self-produced disc opens with "The Ballad of the Broken Bones," a metaphor Low Anthem uses to create a reality of ideas from their experience. Jeff explains the metaphors point of reference: “There's a bar in the east village, NYC called McSorley's. Behind the swagger of the young men who sit drinking with their red-haired dolls, there is a web of dust that begs discussion, but frequently goes unnoticed. Through that web, hanging on an old chandelier, one can see the unlikely shape of protruding bones. Aged bones the color of soured heavy cream. No one dares to touch these hanging artifacts of collective memory. Barely visible through the thick layer of dust that surrounds them, the conspicuous bones were placed there by newly drafted soldiers during the first World War. These men, upon safely arriving home, would take down their bone and break it with a long-awaited beer close at hand. The bones that still hang today, by contrast, are veritable tombstones, inundated with the repugnant fog of historical truth.”
New songs that come from old songs. Vibe. Providence, RI. Typewriters. Folk art. Corn-dogs. Gospel influence. Feng shui. Not entirely jaded yet: music that really is music, not an advertisement. Imagine that. Word of mouth.

      The Bee Eaters
      by The Bee Eaters
    Our Price: $15.00 CD
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
The Bee Eaters boasts four of the most accomplished, creative young talents of the new generation, tracing roots back to the musical traditions of Bluegrass, Old-time, Celtic, Jazz and Pop. The quartet combines the strong, striking music of hammered dulcimer virtuoso Simon Chrisman and banjo phenomenon Wes Corbett with the inimitable sound of brother-sister fiddle duo Tristan and Tashina Clarridge. Tristan, an inventive cellist and 5-time Grand National Fiddle Champion, tours with Crooked Still and Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings and has performed with Mike Marshall, Bruce Molsky, and Cape Breton fiddle phenomenon Natalie MacMaster. His sister Tashina, the 2005 Grand National Fiddle Champion, has toured with Mark O’Connor and Tony Trischka and has performed at Carnegie Hall as part of MacArthur Fellow/Grammy-winning bassist Edgar Meyer's Young Artists program.

      Pointing at the Sun
      by Cheryl Wheeler
    Our Price: $12.97 CD / $9.99 MP3 Album Download

This is my first independent release and boy, let me tell you, it's REALLY a lot of work. I know, because for weeks and weeks, the whole time I was playing Wii tennis, playing guitar, reading, watching T... my partner Cathleen Joyce was on line or on the phone doing all that work. She really only stopped to fix dinner. This is our record. Daylight is also Strarlight
Latest release, one of modern folk music's premiere singer-songwriters

      Sweet Land
      by Mark Orton
    Our Price: $12.97 CD / $9.99 MP3 Album Download
    Usually ships in 1-2 days
Winner of the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the 2005 Hamptons International Film Festival, Sweet Land is a poignant and lyrical celebration of land, love, and the American immigrant experience. When Lars Torvik’s grandmother Inge dies in 2004, he is faced with a decision – sell the family farm on which she lived since 1920, or cling to the legacy of the land. Seeking advice, he turns to the memory of Inge and the stories that she had passed on to him.

Inge arrives in Minnesota in 1920 to marry a young Norwegian farmer named Olaf but her German heritage and lack of official immigration papers makes her an object of suspicion in the small town, and she and Olaf are forbidden to marry. Alone and adrift, Inge goes to live with the family of Olaf’s friend and neighbor Frandsen and his wife Brownie, where she learns the English language, American ways, and a hard-won independence.
Original soundtrack from the motion picture "Sweet Land".
