The Bill Carrera CD Reviews
Welcome to the EvO:R Carrera Reviews Section.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Bill
Carrera and I am the new music reviewer here at Evor. I wanted to let you know a little
about my thoughts on music. It's important to let the people that I review know how I
think of and listen to music. First of all I believe that if your music sucks then
the world should know about it! After all, you have the nerve to charge as much for
your stuff as the majors do so it better be pretty damn good, and if it is, I'll also
tell the world. I'll hold nothing back!

Stinkin Dead Buffalo
Dennis King
Nothing about this album is stinkin, but it does have what appears to be a dead buffalo on the cover, so I forgive them for the title.
The tracks found on this album would be well at home in the jukebox of any honky-tonk, but there's some strong undercurrents of Eaglesesque rock, especially the drums and guitars.
Dennis King sounds comfortable and his voice is well-suited to most of these songs, very enjoyable all around. Don Platts plays guitar and Willie Haddath has guitar solos on 9 of the tracks. Paul Hermanson is impressive as the band's drummer and Steve Biondi adds interesting percussion to three of the tracks. Jean Lavin is the drummer for one of the tracks and he's impressive as well. Bob Ginter is one of the most precise and inventive bassists I've heard in the genre and I'd like to hear him solo in a future song (hint, hint). Cole tinkles the ivories on 9 of the tracks and his style is very compatible with the music this band created.
12 of the 14 tracks on this cd were written, composed and arranged by EvO:R's very own Larry Saunders who is also listed as the producer and engineer. If that weren't enough, he co-wrote the other two tracks and his guitar and keyboard contributions are considerable.
I can't say enough about the musicianship, it is impeccable. Not a single missed cue, not a single out-of-key note, not a single instance of anyone searching for their spot. This album sounds like it was the work of a band that has played together for years and loved every minute of it.
It's a fun Saturday night romp through the heart of Texas and on to Nashville, taking detours through Chicago,
Denver, Los Angelas and Kansas City. Even folks who don't particularly care for blues or c&w will most likely
find their left foot tapping out the beat in spite of themselves.
