  •  The Bill Carrera CD Reviews

Welcome to the EvO:R Carrera Reviews Section.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Bill Carrera and I am the new music reviewer here at Evor. I wanted to let you know a little about my thoughts on music. It's important to let the people that I review know how I think of and listen to music.
First of all I believe that if your music sucks then the world should know about it! After all, you have the nerve to charge as much for your stuff as the majors do so it better be pretty damn good, and if it is, I'll also tell the world. I'll hold nothing back!

    Guitar Masterpieces
     Konstantine Andeson

Guitar Masterpieces? That title would put some real pressure on the performer to deliver some unbelievable material and although this CD was crammed full of 26 wonderful instrumental guitar pieces I would be more inclined to title the CD "Guitar Studies" not masterpieces.

Konstantine Andeson has a wonderful feel for his instrument and he masterfully takes the listener on a wonderful journey through nature and inner thought. His use of harmonics to play an extended melody is almost worth the price of the CD by itself as I was amazed at how fluid his use of harmonics on a nylon stringed instument where. Andeson also knows how to get to the point in his songs as he doesn't spend countless minutes tempting the listener with what is to come next, nor does he waist the listeners time with huge elongated introductions. Andeson gets right in there on every song, in fact, the longest song on this CD is barely more than two minutes in length.

If you are a fan of ambient guitar music that is well recorded and played masterfully then you must have this CD in your collection. My wife had to make a 4 hour trip last week and she took the CD with her and never took it out of the car's CD player. She didn't mind the fact that the songs where so short, she actually like the idea of getting straight to the point and moving on to the next idea so quickly.

One day it would be great to see a book of tabs and music notation from this CD as it would make a great collection of guitar studies for younger players wishing to enter into this ambient guitar arena. It's not full of masterpieces, but it was a worthy effort and one that I would highly recommend.
