  •  Neck Adjustment

My new Fender stratís strings are misaligned. low E is 5mm in from the edge of the 22nd fret and the high E is just off the fret board. Can I loosen the four screws joining neck to body and just twist the neck to bring it into alignment and retighten the screws?
  • Ricks Answer to - Neck Adjustment

Really there should not be enough movement where the screws are bolted in but on cheaper guitars there probably is enough motion you may be able to do that. It is worth a try but if that does not give enough to align the neck properly then the holes may have to be enlarged a tiny bit enough to let it adjust.

There is also another possibility here. Check and see if the tailpiece/bridge is mounted a little off to one side. It is likely thought that you can just lossen the screws a little and shift the neck to proper alignment.
