Rick Andrews Answers Your Guitar Questions
Hello, this is Rick Andrews owner of
Andrews Guitar and a long time member of EvO:R. This section has been
put together to help you with your guitar related questions. I did not agree to do this
so I could simply plug my guitars, I did this so you could finally have answers
to many of those burning questions you may have had about your guitar.
OK, I do get a small plug!

Neck Adjustment
Sent: Monday, May 30, 2005 8:12 PM
My new Fender strat’s strings are misaligned. low E is 5mm in from the edge of the 22nd fret
and the high E is just off the fret board. Can I loosen the four screws joining neck to body
and just twist the neck to bring it into alignment and retighten the screws?
Thanks,
Andrew
Ricks Answer to - Neck Adjustment
Really there should not be enough movement where the screws are bolted in but on cheaper
guitars there probably is enough motion you may be able to do that. It is worth a try but if
that does not give enough to align the neck properly then the holes may have to be enlarged
a tiny bit enough to let it adjust.
There is also another possibility here. Check and see if
the tailpiece/bridge is mounted a little off to one side. It is likely thought that you can
just lossen the screws a little and shift the neck to proper alignment.
